Tom Woodbury's Statement:
This project started by my joining Charlet Davenport
and Peter Blodget in their discovery and exploration
of a new form of interactive sculpture to be set in
the woods near the Hoosic River. The scene was springtime
in a Rousseau-like forest of ferns by the river . Charlet
and Peter strung their pure white ropes between two
strong trees, laughing joyfully in anticipation and
making sure it would be strong enough to bear the weight
of the ages. Then came a throng of rope walkers, young
and old ready to complete the sculputre and caught up
in the sheer delight of balancing on the ropes in order
to stretch out and reach Charlet's ceramic hives of
treasure suspended above their heads. As the drama unfolded,
soon I became immersed, photographing the whole experience,
-ropes, prizes, unstable bodies, wiggly feet and all.
My interaction with this happening near the Hoosic River
will be echoed and made a part of this eventful sculpture
at Sculpture Fest 200 on Sept. 2. It is also my transformation-
a three dimensional soul inside a two dimensional body
of work. "

campus, along the Hoosic River. The sponsor of the exhibit
is Hoosic River Watershed Association.
