The
eyes rest on hands and there are additional hands (plaster
casts) that emphasize that there is a close dependency of
eyes and hands in balance and coordination. Also in many cultures
the two have been symbols of "warding off the evil eye"
and a symbol of wisdom, insight, and the power of the mind
and the mirror of the soul.
