"Connected," 2001. Cast Glass and copper. 80"x28"x6"

"Connected" is one of a series of torsos I made to express a variety of physical feelings I had during a period of illness and healing. It describes the sensation of energy flow through my body from the earth and into the air. Copper pipe, which is the best metal to conduct electricity, forms a prong into the ground. Then, as it rises upwards, it is melded into the translucent glass torso, and emerges above into wing-like shapes. I feel it is important to be grounded, vertical, and feeling the breezes, like this piece is.
