I
have been a sculptor actively working full time for the past
3 years and have participated in many group shows.
I recently completed an artists in residency at the School
of Visual Arts in NYC over the past 9 weeks. I attended the
University of New Orleans where I obtained a BA in Fine Arts-
Sculpture.
I have traveled to Italy as an artist in residence in Pietra
Santa to hone my skills as a marble carver. This was the summer
of 1998.
I am presently a participant in a four person show in Newport
RI. The show is currently due to end Aug.30,00.
My current work is an attempt to bridge the line between painting
and sculpture using 3-D forms set in a field much like color
is placed on a canvas but the shapes and colors are tangible
and not illusion as in a painting. The work is about line
and the movement your eye will follow when the work is completed.
The work is set in the framework of traditional formalism
with the post modern containment of chaos in motion form and
color.
I try to activate space that involves each viewer or many
levels with out specific ideas being given. The work allows
the viewer to see what they want , stay and visit as will
and have fun and remember what it was like to play as a child
again in this fast moving world.
