below, please provide a brief statement on the specific relation of the piece to this year's theme of "wood, stone, steel, water...."
I propose to build a structure on site that would incorporate all the elements of the theme "Steel, Stone Water and Wood." The steel element would consist of a hollow, vertical cylinder, approximately eighteen inches in diameter, made of 'rebar' steel rods anchored into the ground and held together by wire woven in spiral fashion around the walls of the cylinder. The cylinder would be filled with stones to about four feet from ground level. The stones would be layered to appear reminiscent of new england drystone walls. On top of the stone would be placed two layers of fishbowls completely filled with water. The remainder of the cylinder would be filled with leafless branches that would 'fan' out from the top of the rebar/wire cylinder. I imagine the completed structure to have somewhat tree-like profile.
